The newly appointed PTA at Branwood is off to a flying start after raising £360 in aid of Macmillian Cancer Support.
Over 300 parents, children and teachers rallied together on Friday 3rd October to bake and eat delicious cakes as well as raising money for this worthwhile cause.
Organiser of the Macmillan Coffee Morning, Chair of the PTA Mrs Sally McLoughlin said: “We were overwhelmed with the amount of enthusiasm and support for the coffee morning. It was great to see everyone getting together to raise money and awareness for Macmillan.”
Everyone was asked to donate £1 each to come in and help themselves to tea, coffee and cakes as well as taking part in games such as guess the number of sprinkles on the cake. There was a wide selection of home-made cakes, home-made cookies and for those people short on time some bought ones to take away too.
The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support's biggest charity fundraising event. They ask people across the UK - and sometimes further afield - to hold a coffee morning, where donations on the day are made to Macmillan. In 2013 154,000 people signed up to coffee morning, raising a record £20 million for charity.
